How old is your skin?

If you have the time, take this short quiz from Total Beauty and find out the age of your skin! Is your skin’s age the same age as you?

I’m in my 20s and took this quiz. Unfortunately, my skin’s age is 32!! I was extremely surprised…I better start wearing more sunscreen!

Nic’s Sticks by OPI in- Are we there yet?

I printed out that free Nic Stick coupon from my previous post and redeemed it at ULTA. The sales cashier was pretty nice and let me choose any color, rather than the specific color on the coupon…I’m Outta Here….too bright of a pink for me. The display didn’t have many colors to choose from…they had a dark red, this pink that I chose, bright pink and blue. I’m honestly not that big on nails and decided to play it safe by choosing “Are we there yet?” - a pale pink…perfect for Summer! This is retail $6.99 and I got it for free! I should of printed another coupon out, so my sister could’ve got one too.

Here’s the packaging - it reminds me of a white-out type of pen

The applicator - just like a white out pen

My painted nail - the color actually matches the color of the tube packaging

Rating: 4 out of 5

Review: Overall, I really liked the concept and packaging of these nail polishes. You’re suppose to shake the tube, pump the nail polish by pushing the end, and paint your nails once the paint reaches the brush.

Pros:

  • Cute packaging
  • Great for traveling or on-the-go
  • Nice color payoff
  • Easy application

Cons:

  • Price - I’m used to buying the cheap nail polishes
  • This nail polish tends to streak, so I get lines on my nails

Would I repurchase this item again? Again, I’m not a big nail person and the $6.99 price tag is too much for me for nail polish…so I would have to say no. But if I got it free or can get it for half price, I would repurchase!

Buff’d Samples revisited

I decided to try Buff’d Samples again to attempt to find my perfect foundation shade. I mentioned to Jennifer-owner of Buff’d-that Moccasin is a perfect match, but may not be since summer is approaching and I tan easily. Again, I am a MAC NC35-40 and EDM Buttered Tan. I previously tried Warm and Buff, but it was a little too pink for me. Jennifer mentioned that I tried Saffron. So this time around I bought two samples, Moccasin and Saffron for comparisons. Too bad they don’t give out free samples anymore =(. Each sample cost $1.50 including shipping which isn’t too bad.

Here are the samples I got - and Jenn threw in two more Free Samples - Eyeshadow in Cotton Candy and blush in Brick.

Swatches:

I haven’t tested them out yet. I’ve only tried Moccasin. My face color is slightly darker than my arm. Saffron looks like it will be way too dark on me. The eyeshadow and blush are very shimmery and pretty. I don’t know if I would wear them. I’m not too sure about wearing pink eyeshadow, Cotton Candy….it’s outside of my comfort zone, but I might give it a try.

Has anyone found success in their Buff’d Foundation perfect match?

Knock-off Neutrogena T-gel

Kroger Brand Therapeutic Shampoo (Neutrogena T-Gel generic)

After my horrible experience with Pantene Pro-V, my hair was a mess - a dry scalp and snowing dandruff! I needed a shampoo to help with my current dandruff and thought about picking up Neutrogena T-Gel. I’ve never personally tried it. My hair stylist mentioned that Neutrogena T-Gel is better for your hair than Head and Shoulders. I heard from many stylists that Head and Shoulders is the worst thing for your hair. Why? I don’t know…I’ve used Head and Shoulders before and it does its job. However, Head and Shoulders masks the problem, while Neutrogena tries to treat/control the problem. Anyways, I went grocery shopping this past weekend at my local Ralphs and looked in the shampoo isle for the Neutrogena T-Gel. An 8.5 oz bottle of Neutrogena costs about $7! That’s quite a bit more expensive than your normal drugstore shampoo. Then next to the T-gel shampoo, I see the Ralphs generic brand of Neutrogena T-Gel. The price? $1.33!! That’s right, $1.33…it was the same size as the Neutrogena brand. I even checked the Ralphs brand expiration date thinking it might be close to expiration…nope, it had another year to go.

Being a product junkie that I am, I compared the two bottles ingredients.

Product details (courtesy of Neutrogena):

- 0.5% Coal Tar
- Long-lasting relief of itching and flaking
- Controls the symptoms of dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis , psoriasis
- No. 1 dermatologist recommended

Neutrogena T/Gel Original Formula Shampoo is recommended by dermatologists to control the scalp itching and flaking caused by chronic scalp psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis and even common dandruff

Clinical tests prove that the active ingredients in T/Gel Shampoo continues to provide effective scalp therapy for hours even after shampoo is rinsed off

Neutrogena T-Gel’s ingredients: Water , Sodium Laureth Sulfate , Cocamide DEA , Laureth-4 , Fragrance , Cocamidopropyl Betaine , Imidazolidinyl Urea , Methylparaben , Propylparaben , Citric Acid , Sodium Chloride , Tetrasodium EDTA

Kroger Therapeutic T+Plus Shampoo ingredients: Water , Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Cocamide DEA , Laureth-4 , Methylparaben , Propylparaben, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Sodium Chloride, Fragrance, Citric Acid, Tetrasodium EDTA, red no.40, caramel

RATING 5 OUT OF 5:

Overall, I was very impressed with this shampoo. I’m usually very hesistant and would never buy generic shampoo, but since this is a medicated shampoo and dirt cheap…I decided to give it a try. When applied to hair, it doesn’t rather lather up…however, I concentrate on my scalp because that’s where it needs the most love. It does have a slight medicine type of smell to it, but goes away after awhile. I only use this shampoo once or twice a week, I don’t believe you’re suppose to use this every time you wash your hair. What I loved about this is that it actually works! Usually the day after I wash my hair, I get an itchy scalp and flakes/dandruff stop forming. Since I started using this, my scalp isn’t as itchy and I’m finally flake free!! I definitely recommend this for anyone with a dry scalp or dandruff problems.
