Upcoming Review: MaxFactor Products

I finally received my bzzagent kit of MaxFactor Makeup products and I can’t wait to try them out. I have always seen Max Factor at drugstore shelves, but never tried their products.

Max Factor – “the Makeup Up of Professional Makeup Artists” believes in high quality makeup without the department store price tag – which I love! And it helps that glamorous Carmen Electra is their spokesperson.

The products I received:

Products from left to right:

  • ColorGenius Powder/Bronzer/Blush Brush
  • Lipfinity Lipcolor in Glowing

  • ColorGenius Mineral Blush in Roses
  • Lash Perfection Volume Couture in Rich Black
  • Expect a review on these products in the next couple of weeks!!

    Pros/Cons of Mineral Foundation

Ever since the launch of Bare Escentuals, the popularity of loose mineral foundation has skyrocketed. Some love it, some hate it and some are even afraid to try it. So if you are thinking about making the switch or just want to know more about mineral makeup…here it is! This is my take on the pros/cons of Loose Mineral Foundation.

    Pros:

  • Non-comedogenic – This is the primary reason that I made the switch! Depending on who makes the product, mineral foundation contains for less ingredients than traditional foundation, which is great for those with sensitive or acne-prone skin. The main ingredients for mineral makeup are titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, mica, iron oxides, and ultramarines.
  • Natural UV protection – Naturally, mineral foundations have UV protection from titanium dioxide and iron oxide. Because of this, you shouldn’t skimp on sunscreen!
  • Buildage coverage – With mineral makeup, you can easily control the coverage that you want. You can start out with sheer coverage and add more for heavier coverage.
  • Water Resistant -Is a blemish or imperfection you stopping you from lounging in the pool? Mineral makeup is quite water resistant and find that it has pretty good staying power even after a day of swimming!
  • Cons:

  • Can be more expensive than traditional foundation- Depending on the company, mineral foundation can be more expensive than traditional foundation. In addition, not only do you need buy the actual foundation jar, but you need to invest in a kabuki brush or another brush for application.
  • Application can be messy – Most mineral foundations are in loose powder form, so it might be messy for those new to mineral makeup. I recommend transfering the foundation to a small jar or container and pick up the product from there.
  • Not travel-friendly- As mentioned abouve, most mineral foundations are in loose powder form, so it might be difficult to travel with.
  • Accentuate pores, fine lines and wrinkles- Depending on the manufacturer of the foundation, the powder can accentute pores, fine lines and wrinkles. Just be sure to apply the foundation in light layers first, or else it will look too cakey and accentuate imperfections
  • Water Resistance – This is both a pro and a con. The con? Because it’s water resistant, it’s more difficult to remover than regular makeup!
  • So for those that use Mineral Makeup – do you love it or hate it? And those that haven’t tried it – are you willing to give it a try?
