NYX Concealer in a Jar - Great for undereyes!
I was in need of a good under eye concealer to conceal my bags under my eyes that didn’t break the bank. A couple months ago, I took advantage of Cherry Culture’s promotion and decided to take the plunge to try out NYX’s Concealer in a Jar in Medium.
For reference, I’m a MAC NC35-40 and Everyday Minerals Buttered Tan.

Product Review: NYX Concealer in a Jar - Medium
Pros:
- It works as a great under eye concealer - it actually concealed my dark under eye circles.
- It’s dirt cheap! $5 is a deal for this concealer.
- Medium is a perfect match for my skin tone. In the jar, it looked a little too pink for my yellow undertones. But once applied, it blended in beautifully.
- I love the smooth and creamy finish. I have dry skin and find that powder concealers accentuate my dry skin. However, this concealer hydrates and moisturizes the under eye area.
Cons:
- Not readily available in stores - I’ve searched stores that sold NYX and never came across this concealer. I’ve only seen this avaliable online.
- The jar packaging - The jar packaging is not the most hygienic way to store this concealer. You can either use your finger or brush for application.
- For those with acne prone skin - I would not recommend applying to blemishes or any part of your face. It does contain Mineral Oil and will break you out. I made a mistake and applied a little too much under eye concealer that went below by under eye and woke up the next day with a small cluster of breakouts.
The Bottom Line: I have only used this product as an under eye concealer and it does live up to my expectations. However, I did not test this product out for concealing blemishes or other face imperfections due to the Mineral Oil. As a word of caution, for those with acne-prone skin, stick with using this product for under eyes only. I have always been a huge fan of NYX single eye shadows and am now a fan of their Concealer in a Jar.
FAB TIP:: If you plan on purchasing online, Cherry Culture is the best bet. Cherry Culture has promotions and their NYX products come out less expensive than NYX’s main website.
Has anyone else tried Concealer in a Jar?

Ohh I have Medium and Light
You’re right about Medium looking too pink on the jar but blends really well on skin

i agree with you for people not to use this product on pimples due to the Mineral Oil. I too have this product and was hoping to use it on my acne but it actually made it worse.
I got my shade WAY TOO light. Just to help others out, when yall buy this, PLEASE order a shade darker or two below what you’re expecting. I am a bare minerals Fairly Light (i dun use the product but i’ve been color matched, just to provide skincolor reference) and “Fair” was SO FREAK
INL
IGHTTTT. Like, it was beige-white paste on my skin x.x!! someone like me should have gotten “light” or “beige” instead @_@
I wish I could use this product and it’s lying around in my room cuz its too light and it has mineral oil and my skin is sensitive to it…
i’m glad its working out for you though!!

I love this concealer. I use Beige, and it hides my undereye circles perfectly.

Askmewhats - Actually, you’re the one that convinced to check this concealer out =)
Ichigo - Thanks for your suggestion about ordering a shade or two darker than expected. Luckily, I chose the right shade.
Shasta/Melvel - Thanks for visiting! I’m glad you like it as well.
Kimberly Tia - If you have sensitive skin like me, stick to using it to your under eyes. Breakouts are not fun.

hi! can this cause milia growth in the undereyes? i’m kinda concerned since this has mineral oil and may aggravate it. thanks!

Colorswipemd - I have not experienced milia with NYX Undereye Concealer. But when applied past the undereyes, I tend to get whiteheads. Everyone reacts differently with different products. To be on the safe side, maybe to a patch test?

I got both beige and medium and they are both too light. =(
I am so sad. I am an NC 40/42. For EDM, I am a bit lighter than Olive-Medium, but I am pretty green. What shade should have I gotten?

Annie - Did you try Tan? Unfortunately, to find the perfect shade is all by trial and error. If you can’t find a shade in Concealer in a Jar, NYX has other concealers as well that might have a better shade selection for you. Hope this helps!

No, I haven’t tried Tan, though I wish I went for that. I live in Canada so I ordered online and had it shipped so it was a bit more expensive than it would be had I bought it in the US. Still a cheaper option though.
Now I dont know whether to order Glow or Tan. I am afraid that those shades will have too much peach or orange like most ‘tan’ shades. Most of these products are not catered to people that are tanned but have yellow/olive undertones. Almost every product is too peachy for me =(
I was considering investing in CoverFx foundation. They have a TON of shades, its like $40 but if I only use it as a concealer, it will last me a life time.
hmmmm

Annie - Are there any stores in your area that sell NYX cosmetics? I’m sure there has to be at least one. You might want to try buying at Cherry Culture, than NYX. Cherry Culture always has a bunch of promotions.
I don’t have personal experience with CoverFX, so I don’t know how they’re like. You can give them a try, but $40 is quite steep.

I don’t know if anyone is still paying attention but….. I was wondering how to get past the $5 shipping cost? I was going to purchase this on cherryculture and all of a sudden, with shipping, the prices was double!
tips?

B-Reezy - Unfortunately, when it comes to online shopping, shipping is what kills you! What I usually do to balance out the shipping costs is to buy enough products that outweigh the costs. From time to time, Cherry Culture does offer free shipping or promotions. Currently, Cherry Culture has all NYX items at 25% off! Use code: NYX25.
