Happy New Year!

I wanted to wish all of you a Happy New Year! I hope you all have a fun and safe NYE.

Let’s bring on 2009!

What’s a new year without a New Year’s Resolution…

Fabuless Beauty’s Beauty New Year’s Resolution: I will not purchase NEW beauty products until I use up my existing beauty products (An Anonymous poster gave this me this great tip – so I have to give her/him credit for that!). Not only will this save me money, but will reduce the clutter on my beauty shelf.

So what’s in store for 2009 here at Fabuless Beauty?

Last month, I made a post on the FREE Essie Nail Polish in celebration of National Pomegranate Month.

I finally got it in the mail! And here it is! It’s a beautiful opaque dark burgundy red.

Unfortunately, this color was limited edition and will not be available in stores or online.

Did anyone else get their hands on this?

Sneak Peak: CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain

Next month, CoverGirl will be unveiling its newest lip collection – Outlast Lipstain. Lipstains have been a favorite on the fashion runways and will now be more accessible than ever. This innovative new formula provides a stay-put color that will last without the traditional feel of a lipstick!

Product Details:

  • Water-based colorants infuse instantly on the top layers of lips – that provides lightweight long-wearing lip color
  • Weightless lip color – no residue, stickiness or heaviness
  • Formula contains conditioners – glycerin and hyaluronic acid to soften and smooth lip. Unlike most lip stains, it does not contain alcohol – I give CoverGirl bonus points for that!

Approx. Price: $7.29

Where to Purchase?: Mass market retailers

How to Apply:
1) Moisturize your lips with a moisturizing balm.
2) Apply the Lipstain
3) For added shine, apply a lip gloss or top coat on top

The Bottom Line: These lip stains are highly pigmented and stayed put all day! The packaging reminds of felt tip markers. When applied, it looks like I just ate a Popsicle. I admit that I’m not a fan of stains – it’s too matte for my taste. Matte lip colors tend to accentuate blemishes and skin imperfections. And trust me, I don’t have perfect skin. I personally prefer to wear a lip gloss on top of the stain – the lip gloss will seal in the bright, bold color.

FAB TIP: Be on the lookout early January 2009 for these NEW CoverGirl Lipstains!

High-End Holiday Gift Ideas: Prescriptives Colorscope Holiday Refillable Palette

Yes…we all want to save this holiday season, but unfortunately, not everyone is a fan of inexpensive beauty products.

So what do you get for the high-end makeup snob that won’t hurt your wallet? Easy… Prescriptives Colorscope Refillable Palette for Eyes and Cheeks.

Source: Prescriptives

These beautiful holiday palettes comes in Warm and Cool and includes: three special holiday Eye Colors, three Colorscope Eye Color favorites, one cheek color and one bronzer.

Approx. Price: $39.50, reduced from $52

Where to Purchase?: Department Stores, Prescriptives

Take a look at this Warm Palette…

Eye shadow swatches

Overall, this is a beautiful palette. Considering that the original price was $52 and has been reduced to $39.50 – this is a great price point for the high-end makeup snob. Individually, the single eye shadows run $14 a pop!

All the eye shadows are full-sized and highly pigmented. With the exception of the navy blue and black, all the eye shadows leave a shimmery satin finish. The navy blue and black eye shadows are more matte with glitter bits – these shadows are more appropriate for the evening. They’re so easy to blend – easier than MAC’s Holiday 2008 Smokey Eye Palette! However, the blush didn’t swatch too well, but when applied to my NC 35-40 skin, I was given a natural flush for everyday wear. Also, I love the packaging -the palette is enclosed in a zippered case, which makes it ideal for traveling during this winter holiday.

FAB TIP:Once this palette is used up, you can refill the palette with new Prescriptive eye shadows!
