Was this palette worth it?

Scant: A sheer light pink frost eyeshadow. I was disappointed in this color – it was not pigmented at all. Isn’t MAC known for their pigmentation?

Satin Taupe: A beautiful shimmery Taupe dark eyeshadow. This eyeshadow is part of their permanent collection. This color is great for a day look.

Dark Devotion: A dark matte deep brown eyeshadow. Apply in the outer corner of your eyes, for a dark brown smokey look.

Gorgeous: A sheer silver frost eyeshadow. Like, Scant, it’s hardly pigmented at all. I found this color to be a little on the chalky side.

Ambiance: A dark grey/charcoal eyeshadow with large specks of silver glitter.

Carbon: Similar to Satin Taupe, this eyeshadow is part of MAC’s permanent collection. Carbon is a true black – not blue black or dark grey, but black! This matte black eyeshadow may be a true black, but may be a bit difficult to blend

The Bottom Line: Aside from the cheap jeweled packaging, and for this being my first MAC palette, I was quite impressed. Even though I was slightly disappointed with a couple of the eye shadows, I actually like this palette. YES…this palette is worth it!

I love the idea of the ability to create two different looks of smokey eyes – browns and blacks. The colors are versatile that they can be worn from day to night. All three color in a column combined achieves the perfect smokey eye look. I’ve been looking for single eyes shadows to perfect this look and the MAC Holiday 2008: Smokey Eye Palette lives up to my expectations. As for the price, $38 might be steep for some – but you have to consider that each eye shadow alone costs $14.50.
