Essence of Beauty Retractable Kabuki Brush Review
Essence of Beauty, CVS’s own beauty line, has their own version of a kabuki brush. If you aren’t familiar with kabuki brushes, they’re great for applying mineral makeup products. Except that unlike most kabuki brushes in the market, this brush is retractable!

Approx. Price: $13
Where to Purchase?: CVS
The Bottom Line: I expected this Essence of Beauty Retractable Kabuki brush to be along the same quality as my other EOB brushes – high quality brushes and an affordable price. However, this brush was not the case. The kabuki did a fantastic job in applying my mineral foundation. But the bristles are not exactly soft. Overall, I found the brush to be scratchy and rough - cosmetic brushes should not be like this! After a couple of washes, this kabuki brush sheds like no other. Finding brush hairs on your face after mineral foundation application is not exactly attractive. However, I do have to give this brush merit that it is retractable, which is ideal for traveling. As a fan of Essence of Beauty brushes, I was highly disappointed with this brush. In the trash it goes!
P.S. I still prefer my Everyday Minerals Flat Top Brush for mineral foundation application.

I’ve run across several kabuki brushes like this lately… way too rough! I saw this one at Walgreens today and am glad I passed it up! Thanks

Thanks for this review..I’m in desperate need of a new brush for my minerals, and I was going between this and the EDM brush you mentioned. Guess EDM wins out!

I didn’t like this kabuki brush either. Honestly, I don’t know what is the rave about EOB brushes. I like them initially but after a month or two of washing, it’s not that great anymore. :X

Ahlessa – Sorry the kabuki brush didn’t work out for you as well. I do admit that I do like EOB eye brushes.
