Tap vs. Bottled Water

My Dad..yes, my Dad sent me this article answering the controversial question: Is tap water better than bottled water? Yes, this is totally unrelated to beauty products, but it is related to your health.  I know why Dad sent me this article, because at home I have plenty of Costco cases of bottled water and he refuses to drink bottled water.

In a small nutshell, the article calls out that tap water regulations is a lot stricter than bottled water.  “The Safe Drinking Water Act requires that public water systems test tap water for various contaminants using certified laboratories and issue a water-quality report per year.”  Whereas, bottled water manufacturers are not required to report their water quality to the FDA.  Sounds a bit alarming doesn’t it?  I wouldn’t dwell on this article, but it’s definitely something that is good information to know about.

Honestly, I don’t mind tap water.  But it is the taste of the tap water that I cannot seem to get accustomed to.

So what do you all prefer? Tap or bottled water?

L’Oreal Paris Extra Volume Collagen Mascara Review

Collagen is used in many anti-again products to promote supple and youthful skin, but collagen in a mascara?  L’Oreal’s Newest mascara: L’Oreal Paris Extra Volume Collagen Mascara has a Hydra-Collagen formula that clings to lashes and expands for maximum volume instantly.

Product Details:

  • 50% bigger than the classic L’Oreal volumizing mascara
  • Maximizes lashes with collagen-infused volume for 12 times more impact
  • Extra Volume Collagen Mascara is infused with collagen and Hyaluronic spheres that clings and magnifies lashes

Approx. Price: $7.95

Where to Purchase? Mass market retailers

The massive brush

The Bottom Line:
The sleek black patent packaging reminds me of Maybelline Lash Stiletto Mascara.  The result?  The mascara brush is pretty massive, a bit too large to reach the inner lashes.   Compared to CoverGirl Lashblast, the brush is about the same size, but Lashblast is easier to manage.  After one coat of mascara, my lashes clumped like no other.  Yes, I was left with volumized lashes as the label claims to do so.  But, I was also left with unattractive tarantula eyes and a smudged lower lashline.  For some reason, I have never been a fan of L’Oreal mascaras.  And honestly, I don’t know if I ever would be.  Would I recommend this mascara? No.  I will be sticking to my CoverGirl Lashblast.

Has anyone had any success with L’Oreal mascaras?

NEW Dove Body Wash with Nutrium Moisture

Did you know that most regular body washes cause dry skin damage? Most body washes damage the outer layer of the skin during the cleansing process and add moisturizing ingredients that lie on top of the skin, instead of penetration.  I’ve experienced this firsthand with lower end body washes!

Dove has made a groundbreaking skin care advance by restoring the skin’s natural moisture while cleansing.  The new Dove Body Washes contains Nutrium Moisture, a patent-pending technology that penetrates the surface of the skin to replenish and nourish.

Was Dove’s Body Wash with Nutrium Moisture moisturizing enough for my dry skin?

Product Details:

• Repairs and maintains skin’s protective layer during cleansing

• Unlike moisturizers in other body washes, Dove Body Wash with NutriumMoisture™ penetrates
surface skin deep down to replenish and nourish

• Clinically proven to significantly reduce dryness and improve moisturization

• Available in Deep Moisture, Sensitive Skin and Gentle Exfoliating

Approx. Price: $4 for 12 oz. bottle and $6 for a 24 oz. Bottle

The Bottom Line: In the past, I’ve used Dove Deep Moisture Nourishing Body Wash and found it to be mediocre.  Then, I tried Dove Body Wash with Nutrium Moisture in Gentle Exfoliating and wow.  It definitely is a step up from their original Dove Body Wash formula.  The body wash texture is creamy, the scent is light and it left my skin moisturized.  Even with the small exfoliating beads, the body wash delivered and left me with soft and smooth skin.  Unfortunately, Summer is coming to an end and Fall is approaching.  What does that mean? Dry skin is coming and I will be fully prepared this year!
