Best and Worst Beauty Products of 2009

When it comes to trying out new beauty products, 2009 has been quite a year for me.  I am always on the search for new beauty products that deliver great results.  However, there are drawbacks when trying out new products.  There were some beauty products that I tried and loved, some that I hated and some that left me hugely disappointed.  Check out my best and worst beauty products of 2009.

Best Beauty Products of 2009

1) L’Oreal HIP Cream Liner in Black: Hands down, this is one of the best eyeliners I have ever come across.  For those having difficult applying liquid eyeliner, L’Oreal’s HIP Cream Liner has the same results as a liquid eyeliner.

2) Beyond the Zone: Turn Up the Heat Protectant: An cheaper alternative to TiGi’s Catwalk Fashionista Smooth and Shine, Sally’s Beyond the Zone: Turn Up the Heat is a terrific heat protectant.  When I blow out my hair, this is my go to product!  Not only did it protect my tresses, but kept my hair smooth.

3) Essence of Beauty Travel Eye Kit: This is the best travel makeup brush kit that I have come across.  In most travel brush kits, the brush hairs are coarse and difficult to work with.  Essence of Beauty’s Travel Eye Kit contains four double sided brushes of high quality and an inexpensive price tag!

Worst Beauty Products of 2009

1) Crown Brushes Duo Fibre Brush: I picked up this brush at MakeupshowLA as an alternative for MAC’s 187 Duo Fibre Brush.  Sadly, it did not deliver.  The brushes’ bristles are far too coarse and shedded like no other.  Good thing it only cost me $7!

2) Chapstick True Shimmer: I’m a fan of Chapstick’s original lip balm, but Chapstick’s True Shimmer? No thank you.   Chapstick’s True Shimmer did not moisturize and its shimmery factor was barely noticeable.

3) E.l.f Studio Blush in Tickled Pink: In its sleek black packaging, E.l.f’s Studio Blush in Tickled Pink looks gorgeous!  Unfortunately, this blush is chalky and too sheer.  I had to layer on this blush five times for any color payoff.

Beauty fanatics, what’s your best and worst beauty products of 2009?

New Year Eve Looks with Flirt! Cosmetics

Whatever your New Year Eve’s plan are for this year, ring in the New Year looking your best.  I know I will.  The experts at Flirt! Cosmetics gives us a few New Year Eve looks to make us sparkle that special night!

Kiss-Me Lips

Get ready for your New Year’s kiss with super glossy kissable lips. Our recommendation? FLIRT! Squeeze Me Super Shiny Lip Gloss in Bubbly Berry brings just the right amount of drama and sass with an iridescent berry pay-off that will make your lips look luscious. Pair the bold lip with a soft, shimmering eye look and get ready for your close up!

Eye:To achieve a soft, shimmering eye, try Dreamy Eyes Eyeshadow in Gold Envy – apply all over lid from lashline to browbone and Show Stopper from lashline to crease. For added Holiday glamour, add a touch of Look of Love Eyeliner in Tipoff to the top of your lashline. Complete the look with Lash-a-delic Fast-Defining mascara in Mod Black.

Cheek:Lightly dust apples of cheeks with a complimentary berry shade - Peek-A-Blush in Popsie.

Sultry Eyes (My favorite look!)

Try a smoky, sparkling eye to reel him in! Achieve this look with FLIRT! Dream Eyes Eyeshadow in Wild Night and a few coats of Big Flirt Mascara in Black Wink for seriously voluminous lashes. Complement the look with a sexy, nude lip and get ready to bat those lashes.

Cheek: Dust cheekbones with Peek-A-Blush in Caramel Belle.

Lip:Perfectly nude lips complete the look. Try Chickstick Smooth and Shiny Lipcolor in Shimmy or Honey (a perfect nude lip color!).

A Fresh Glow

It’s cold outside, so warm up your look with a fresh flush of peach. FLIRT! Flowerific Cheek Color in Peach Blossom will give your cheeks that just-came-in-from-the-cold-glow with a festive, iridescent finish. Keep the look glowing with a shimmering lip and eye look in complementing warm shades.

Eye: For a candy-colored glow, try Dreamy Eyes Eyeshadow in Birthday Cake from lashline to brow bone and Cutsie Pie from lashline to crease. Line the top and bottom lashline with Look of Love Eye Pencil in Purple Rain. Smudge into lashes with fingertips.

Lip:Complete the look with Glamourazzi Extreme Lip Lacquer in Dream Girl.

And don’t forget to add my favorite accessory, false lashes, for extra glamour!
