MAC Mineralize SPF 15 Foundation Review
Driven by my curiosity, I caved into purchasing MAC’s Mineralize SPF 15 Foundation. I love MAC, but I have always encountered issues with their foundation.
For example,
MAC Studio Fix Foundation – Miss (breakouts…yikes!)
MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation – On the fence
MAC Mineralize Foundation Loose – On the fence
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish – Miss (Skinfinish contains bismuth – breakouts central!)
MAC Mineralize SPF 15 Foundation – ??
Priced at $32, MAC Mineralize SPF 15 Foundation is MAC’s most expensive foundation! But does it deliver?
Let’s see if MAC’s Mineralize SPF 15 Foundation is worth it…
The foundation comes sealed. Remember to close the foundation tightly shut to prevent dryout.
MAC Mineralize SPF 15 Foundation in NC30. Currently, I wear MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NC37. MAC Mineralize SPF 15 Foundation runs dark!
The Bottom Line:
I really do like this foundation. But is it worth it? If you’re looking for a light to medium coverage foundation, yes it’s definitely worth it! But if you need a foundation for heavier coverage to cover raised skin imperfections, skip this.
The texture of the foundation is a cream based. After application, It leaves my skin a moisturized and dewy finish. It did not feel or look cakey on my skin at all…that’s a bonus. Overall, it really does give me that flawless look. The coverage lightweight, so you really need to build coverage to cover minor skin imperfections. I definitely would not recommend this foundation if you have acne, it simply would not be enough coverage.
The staying power is amazing! I apply the foundation in the am, and by 5pm, my foundation did not budge. Since this foundation is water based, it works wonders for dry skin. Previously, I have been using MAC Studio Fix Fluid and it accentuated my dry skin. And best of all…no breakouts with this foundation! For all of you with sensitive or problems with acne, MAC Mineralize SPF 15 Foundation does not contain bismuth!
As for foundation application, I tried applying this foundation with two different brushes – a typical foundation brush and stippling brush. Definitely, the stippling brush made application a lot easier and gave me great coverage. The foundation brush works just as well, but it takes longer for application.
So there you have it…MAC Mineralize SPF 15 Foundation is a hit in my book!
Has anyone else tried MAC Mineralize SPF 15 Foundation? If so, what are your thoughts?

I just purchased this foundation a few days ago and I love it! At first, I too, thought it was a little too dark so anyone purchasing this might wanna go a step lighter, depending on your complexion. It gives great medium coverage, and it gives my combination skin a nice glow, I just need a blot powder for my oily spots. I say it’s a go!

Nise – I’m glad you like the foundation! So far, I’ve been using this foundation daily and am loving it.

Thanks so much for this review. I just bought this today & haven’t tried it yet. I searched for reviews AFTER purchasing lol! I have dry skin too & like you I’m using Studio Fix Fluid & I also think it accentuates the dryness. So I’m very happy someone with similar skin likes it. Can’t wait to try it in the morning

Hi I am currently using this product and I love it but it oes really quickly, is there anything comparable to this product?
February 18th, 2011 at 9:49 am
KLS – I agree with you! I love MAC Mineralize Compact Foundation, but it doesn’t contain as much product as their other foundations. There are other mineral compact foundations on the shelves, but I haven’t found anything that compares to MAC.

I just bought this and I like it when I apply it, but I think it’s sticky afterwards. Anyone else find that? Was thinking of trying the translucent setting powder over it, as I don’t really want to add colored powder over it….

kk36 – Sticky? How do apply the foundation? And what kind of brush are you using? I wouldn’t recommend using the sponge applicator, but rather a cosmetic brush.

I usually use the liquids in nc37 so I was going to get it in n30 even thought they suggested the nc35 but….I am Indian and am darker than you so Im confused as to how we both use the same color??? Does it appear slightly tan on you or maybe look like you were out in the sun for a bit?

Eva – If they MAC associates suggested NC35, then I would go with that. NC30 adds warmth to me.

Hi, i’m very interested in getting this foundation but just don’t know what shade to get (coz it looks much darker than the other MAC foundations and I’m usually an NC35) and what brush would work best. I’m currently using brush 129 with the Studio Fix Powder foundation but am not sure if that brush would work with this. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

WYS – If you are unsure about your shade, you should go to a MAC counter and they can easily find the right shade for you. Because this foundation is water based, I would not recommend using the 129 brush since it contains animal hair. I recommend using a synthetic brush such as a stippling or flat top brush. MAC’s 130 Duo Fibre Brush would work well, but it could be on the more costly side. For a more cost effective brush, Sonia Kashuk at Target makes a great stippling brush!
Hope this helps!!
