Thank you for sharing this article, but is it just me, but the “budget friendly options” were not really budget friendly? Maybe I am cheap, but I still think that $18 for a lipstick and $8 for a bar of soap as budget friendly options is still too much to pay for those items.
Thanks again for sharing.

Niki – Yes, I agree with you. Not all of the budget friendly options may be not what others would classify as “budget friendly”. But they are a bit cheaper than the actual product.

The sad thing is I am a hypocrite (but I admit that) because I have no problem replacing my NARS Albatross Highligther Blush Powder (now $26) or treating myself to a Estee Lauder Lipstick ($22) or one of my beloved Chanel lipstick ($28.50) – although I mostly buy these items with gift certificates or from eBay and/or ACW (All Cosmetics Warehouse). However, the idea of paying $8 for a bar of soap still offends my sensibilities.
One more thing, I have to agree with Oprah regarding her appreciation for YSL makeup products (esp. YSL’s lipsticks & lip glosses) for they do make some wonderful products but I rarely have the opportunity to indulge.
Thanks again for posting this article and it was very informative.
